Ways to Get Involved

Religious Education
During the rite of infant baptism, the parents are identified as the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith and that they would be the best of teachers. As it is often said that faith is caught more than taught. As the children see their parents praying, trusting in God, attending Sunday Mass, possibly having family devotions, so they will come to greater faith. The godparents become examples of faith for the children as well. The community of St. Basil also has formal Catholic religious education classes for its children and young people to further assist the parents in their roles to pass on the faith. So whether a person is in a Catholic school or attending a CCD program, all children are assured of a Catholic education. If teaching is a gift you have and want to assist in teaching one of the CCD classes, please consider being a teacher for St. Basil’s religious education program by contacting the director of religious education.
 
Adult Initiation
There are those who will present themselves to the Church community who have never been baptized. It may be they see the faith in you and the difference it has made in your life being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Since they will be introduced to a way of life, having those to accompany them who are striving to live their faith as a way of life is indispensable. If you want to be part of the team of people in this exciting process, please contact the office.
 
Ministries at Mass
The Sunday Assembly is where there is the greatest contact with the most amount of people in a Church community. And this act of worship is the work of the people, both in the assembly and in the liturgical ministries that are part of the role of the laity. Please consider assisting in a liturgical ministry by being a lector, communion minister, usher, music, or altar server. Any of these ministries are open to men and women. Altar servers are open to any girl or boy in the parish who has made their First Communion.
 
Communion to the Homebound
As people age, there are those who find themselves in a situation because of health no longer able to come to Mass. The Eucharist was so important to them throughout their life. Now when they can no longer go to the Church, the Church needs to go to them to continue to provide them with the nourishment of the Eucharist, the food to sustain them on their journey in what is more than likely the sunset years of their life. If you can offer your time for this ministry please contact the office.
 
Youth Group
The St. Basil Youth Group is where students from 4th – 12th grades meet regularly for fellowship, prayer, fun games, food, movies and service to our community. Our group meets at least once a month on designated Sundays in the church hall. The meeting outline usually follows: 1) a hot meal; 2) a general group meeting; 3)age divided topics; 4) fun and games.

Group outings(3-4) are also part of our yearly schedule.
 
Worship with us
You are invited to join the people of St. Basil to listen to the scriptures and gather at the Eucharistic table on a regular basis on Sunday or the Saturday Vigil Mass. We are less without you. And better with you.
